We have been working on growing our keyboard skills with Mrs McFadyen.
We are going to practise for 10 minutes each morning to help grow our skills so that we can create and share our learning on our devices more effectively.

Sharing our knowledge
All of us are unique and have special interests, knowledge and experiences we bring to Totara Whanau. We used our prior knowledge to create a presentation to teach others about something important to us. Our presentations also tell our whanau a little bit about each of us.

Hockey Skills
This term we are very lucky to have Regan from Hockey Hawke's Bay teaching us hockey skills.
We are learning how to receive a ball, dribble, push and pass a hockey ball and tackle. We know that the correct way to hold the hockey stick is with our left hand at the top and our right hand halfway down the handle. To help us get used to turning the stick we have been practicing pushing and stopping the ball holding the stick with only our left hand.
We have learnt to keep our sticks low so that we don't hit someone. Keeping our sticks low also means we are can control the ball better and have the stick ready to receive or trap a ball, pass the ball to a team mate or tackle the ball off the opposition.

Collaborating
What wonderful children we have as part of Totara Whanau.
Miss Jackett, Mrs Ramsay and Mrs H feel very proud of the start the children have made to their learning journey in Room 234. They worked so well collaboratively, listening to each others ideas, including all their team members, supporting each other and beginning to 'argue with manners'.
The challenge was to work together to decorate a branch. By themselves the branches are special, but when all the branches come together to create a 'totara tree' it is simply magical.
Here are some photos of us collaborating
Our Totara Tree collaboratively created by Totara Whanau
Thank you to all those Totara children who helped construct the tree ready to hang in our hub.
