We are building our vocabulary.
When we read we are re-reading and looking for clues in the text to work out the meanings of unknown words.
Sometimes we read around the word then we can work out meaning from the clues in the text. Sometimes the clues are within words eg. unicycle (we know uni means one).
Sometimes we need to ask others and sometimes we need to look up the word in a dictionary.
We are learning to STOP and really think about our reading and what words mean. Sometimes it's a bit tricky because words have different meanings in different contexts. Jacob learnt this when he was learning what clutch meant. It could have been the clutch in a car or to clutch onto something.
